In conversation with historic weaving structures, Michelle Flores creates illustrative textiles that explore female identity and symbolic nature through craft. Drawing from Mexican folk art, ancient hieroglyphics, and popular culture, she treats ornament not as decoration, but as language. Flores holds a BFA in Fiber from California State University, Long Beach, and has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She also studied traditional tapestry weaving at Texere in Oaxaca, Mexico. Her work has been exhibited at Pitzer College Art Galleries and Neo Los Angeles.
