Michelle Flores is a Los Angeles-based artist exploring themes of identity, socio-economic norms, and land ownership through traditional weaving techniques. Her practice incorporates land and bead weavings, using natural fibers and ceramic beadwork to connect her Mexican-American heritage with contemporary critiques of modern technology and societal structures. Flores holds a BFA in Fiber from California State University of Long Beach and has attended fellowships at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Vermont Studio Center. She also studied traditional tapestry weaving at Texere in Oaxaca, Mexico, blending folk art traditions with influences from popular culture.
